This Chapter Closes.....August 2018.....

Camp Harris at Crooked Creek RV Park...
Our 5th stay and Kathy has given us a great site overlooking the lake...
Lake Keowee...and the view just outside of our home on wheels...
We had some amazing afternoon/evening storms and fantastic cloud formations....
This storm front was incredible, we watched it roll across the park bringing sudden strong winds and of course heavy rain (some anxiety about our awning !!)....
Fascinating how the storm front moved through and so quickly....
And as the storm passes it's a beautiful sky....
Not a gentle English rain !!!
Our resident hawk gracefully floating on the thermals and looking for lunch...
Not at this park but there have also been local sightings of bears which is unusual, the theory is it's been a very wet summer and the berries have not ripened on the bushes up in the mountains so the bears are venturing down in search of food.....
5th August....
We celebrated Yorkieman's birthday with our friends down in Georgia...
I'm thinking he had a good time !!
Lake Hartwell....on our route from our home at Lake Keowee to our friends in Cornelia Georgia...a road much travelled while we were sorting the sale of our home on wheels and truck....
Despite this being the last few days of our trip we still find the odd gem..
This is The Traveler's Rest Historic Site...
Built in 1815 as a stagecoach inn and plantation home....
The upper floor is a dormitory of rope/string beds that would need to be tightened, hence the saying "sleep tight"...
This and next pic...
Sunrise over beautiful Lake Keowee on our last full day in our home on wheels....

Over the last few days we have held a "yard sale" and made the princely sum of $41 !!!
As this is the last blog post for the 6 years of our travels across the USA in our home from home I have included a few nostalgic photos....
The rest area south of Atlanta April 2016 pre putting our truck and trailer into storage and the flight back to Blighty....
The rest area in Knoxville Tennessee June 2016 on route to the Upper Peninsula and The Great Lakes...
In August 2016 we took a short detour to Riverside Iowa to the future birthplace of James T Kirk...small town but enough "space" for us to park up and visit the museum and the town...great fun especially for Star Trek fans...
I could finish without including a couple of water-towers in the final blog post....
And of course I had to include the railroad too....
Just a short trip down memory lane....
August 2018....
This is a very common sight in this area...
Locally known as "bag worms" they are a grub that build these "nests" which will eventually if not controlled kill the tree....fishermen are known to use the "worms" for bait...
And the day has arrived......we hand over our home on wheels to the new owners a lovely local couple who are absolutely thrilled with their purchase, we feel we are leaving it in good hands...
Our home from home at it's new home in Walhala, South Carolina...
And today we say goodbye to our truck....the tears come now....but we get to keep the tags !!!
And lastly our Mascot Bradda Ed (he has travelled with us to Canada and Italy to name just two) and has been with us for the 65,729 miles of our American Adventure.....we have seen so many fantastic sights and met so many friendly and lovely people, met up with old friends and made new....  We have been so lucky to be able to do what we have done and spend time at the locations rather than a whistle stop tour.....the views and wildlife
The Kindness of Strangers...
We have been given by fellow campers..
 Elk Steaks...
A filleted whole side of salmon caught that day....
And my favourite....
I had tweaked my back and was given some cannabis rub (legal in Colorado) and it worked and smelt much nicer than Deep Heat !!!
One of the most bizarre happenings was waking up one morning I thought a leaf was stuck to the wardrobe door but no it was a frog !!!!!
Well we are now enjoying Southern hospitality in Georgia before we fly back to Blighty on Saturday......
Thank you all once again for following our travels and adventures over the past 6 years.....I am humbled that so many of you have asked me to make sure I continue to write a blog.....there have been times when Blooger.com have changed their settings or messed with what was a perfectly good site that I almost chucked it in but if nothing else I am known for my tenacity....
For the final time on this adventure...
Bye for now and thank you from...

Update from South Carolina 8th August 2018

A short update from SC...
The sale of our truck and our home on wheels is progressing but not without some frustration....
But we are enjoying our 5th stay at one of our favourite RV parks...we have popped down to our friends in Georgia for a night stop a couple of times, once to celebrate Yorkieman's birthday.....fun food and fellowship...

The view from my armchair of beautiful Lake Keowee....
The afternoon thunder storm is heading our way...quite usual for this area but they and North Georgia have had a wet summer, the water levels in the many lakes in this area are all very high...
Just a quick update....the last post for this blog will be published soon...
For now cheers from...

Friday 20th July.....The Final Tow of Our Travels....Chattanooga, TN to West Union, SC...

Well this is it....we are "On The Road Again" as we head out from Chattanooga, Tennessee on US64/74 east to our final destination and back to the beginning at Lake Keowee, South Carolina...
It's a very pretty drive through the Sugarloaf Mountain range and along the side of Lake Ocoee....
A nice pull out spot for coffee and cookies...
The road is winding and quite narrow but doable...
The Ocoee River is on the right behind the trees but sorry I wasn't able to get any pics and on this stretch although there were some pullouts they were full of the old school buses that "ferry" all of the whitewater rafters to the river.....it's very big business on this stretch of the river we have never seen so many rafts at one time in a river....but take my word for it the drive was very pretty...
We did cross into Georgia again before North Carolina....
Then into South Carolina....
And once more onto The Cherokee Scenic Highway to Westminster....
And back to the beginning and our final destination..
This is our 5th stay at this park having first stayed here in 2010 when we hired a camper to see if we would like this sort of life and travels....
5th July 2012....
20th July 2018....
This majestic guy was soaring above us as we arrived.....
Welcome back to Yorkiman and Mrs Blogger perhaps !!!
We love this RV Park and Kathy has allocated us a great spot down by the lake, more on that in the next post, our 6 year story is not quite over....
For now Yorkieman is enjoying a well done rest and some amber liquid, ha ha and it's not a cup of tea !!!
Until the next post..
