17th to 19th June.....Beautiful Grand Lake, Colorado....

Still on catch up with blog...ha ha having too much fun !!!
We set out on a wet Sunday morning from Craig to Grand Lake....
At first following the Yampa River and railroad along the US40 through Steamboat Springs before heading up into the Rockies Mountains and through Rabbits Ears Pass at 9426ft elevation....raining so no good photos to post but still remnants of snow.....
Rabbits Ears Pass now has just one ear due to a large rock fall !!!
Despite the rain and driving conditions it was an interesting drive with a sighting of a bald eagle and lots of the alpine sunflowers and lupins...
The small town of Kremmling.....
Stunning Bryers Canyon....
What with all of the stunning scenery of the Rockies we hadn't expected yet another deep canyon on this journey...
Bryers Canyon....The Colorado River and railroad, sadly no train.....
A comfort stop at pullout on the last leg of todays journey on US34 north at Lake Granby.....temps have plummeted and Yorkieman is cold and we are not liking those black clouds but hey ho !!!
Good spot Yorkieman but we are not sure if Golden Eagle or Osprey but majestic anyway....
We arrive at our home for the next 5 days at Winding River RV Resort, elevation 9,000ft a bit travel sore but the rain has stopped and we have a great reunion with our friends Carole and Wally and a great catch up over supper at their place....
Monday 18thJune...
Another day another dollar as they say, the sun is shinning and we are fascinated and entertained by the hummingbirds.....we will spend hours watching them over the next few days...
C & W loan us a feeder to watch these incredible birds....
As with most wildlife there is a pecking order and at times there is a feeding frenzy...I do have video but haven't been able to upload...I will if I have time work on that....
We are staying at Grand Lake which is the western side of The Rocky Mountain National Park, big on ATV, lake pursuits and horse riding in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter....
This is the  Grand Lake Library...I could so work here....
Hmmm...the guy on the roof does not have a safety line...seems they are going to lift up part of the roof !!!!
Lake Granby....
This young guy was born only 2 months ago but is almost as tall as his mother....Colorado is very much horse country....
Late evening and the elk come down into the meadow to graze....
We are very settled and as Carole has said whichever way you look is a great view, there are no bad views....we are surrounded by mountains and clean air....
Until the next post...
The Contented Campers....

  2. Hi Dave and Ann...
We really appreciate you persevering with adding comments. I am so annoyed with Google about this. On the forum everyone is having the same problem, there is much frustration out there and I am spending more time trying to sort it than blogging !!!! Give me another V & T !!!!!
Thanks again and to you A & M if you are having similar problems...
On the plus side we have having a great time despite the 100F+ temps just hoping the A/C holds out !!!
Enjoy your heat wave and your cooling drinks....
    Thanks again and cheers..

  5. Hi you two! I see you are back in cowboy country, hope you have more success finding one this time, there must be some left. At least youve seen his horse! There doesnt seem to be a problem this end posting comments, I get a note saying it will be displayed when checked or something but they do seem to appear. Take no notice of the footie result, we fielded a team with eight changes so it wasnt the same bunch who won the first two games. As a result we still dont know how we will fare when up against a good team. The Belgians did the same (protecting stars for the next matches) - it was a bit like Rory using a second hand putter for the first round in case the real one wore out!! Madness. Carry on enjoying, we leave for Norfolk in a couple of hours, back Tuesday will catch up then. A&M
